Meet Our Women in Tech: Odeta, QA

By Craig Hore | Friday 8th March, 2019

To celebrate International Women's Day 2019, we thought we'd look in on ourselves and profile our amazing women in tech!

First up we've got Odeta...

Tell us a little bit about yourself:

I am Odeta and I am a full time working mum of two beautiful kids (even though they are not kids anymore!🙂)! I have tried to enjoy and spend time with them during their childhood to make up for the time that I was away and give them all the love and attention they deserved.

A fun fact about us is that we have visited Disneyland Parks in Paris several times within a year and on our last visit, my boys got so worried that it was me loving the Disney characters and not them 😋!

I love music, dancing, travelling and have a great relationship with my friends and colleagues!! Living healthy and eating organic food are just some of my obsessions 😉

What do you do at Loot?

I joined Loot full time in October 2018, as a QA engineer.

My day to day responsibilities are to support the cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software, while making sure that all the high priority bugs are identified and corrected before release.

As part of the QA team, I perform manual tests, prepare and maintain relevant test documentation and implement and update the test environment. Moving towards Automation testing is my main priority.

What is it about a career in tech that makes you jump out of bed in the morning?

Blakelee Mills, CEO of scientific graphics software house Golden Software, has stated “I serendipitously entered the technological space, and I’ve remained because of the ever-changing nature of the industry. Technology is the driving force behind the majority, if not all, of today’s innovations”.

As technology is recently advancing at a fast pace, working in a tech environment is very promising and thriving. In my current role, I am continuously learning and improving my technical skills, while also being introduced to the cutting- edge ideas and exploring how those ideas will work in the real world.

If you could give one piece of advice to a younger woman, looking to pursue a career in tech, what would it be?

As technology continues to evolve, your career can too!

Every day you are offered new opportunities and you can grow with them! Working in a tech environment is also challenging and the key goal is to solve problems. If every young woman is open to those challenges, then the technology will bring out the best in them 😊

If you could swap places with anyone in the tech world for a day, who would it be and why?

As I have a background in law, I would have liked to have been the QA engineer of a legal tech application, which uses advanced Artificial Intelligence to perform legal research. I would love to see speeding up the completion of such tasks that would typically take a great amount of time to do manually.

Check back over the next few weeks as we introduce you to more of our amazing women in tech!
